Livin It is heading to Jamaica to participate in the Luis Palau Association festivals in Montego Bay, Mandeville, and Kingston April 26 - May 5, 2008!
Livin It Alliance partner, Splinter Youth Inc., has established a strong skate presence on the island through their heart to minister to the local youth in Jamaica’s Boston Bay. Splinter skate missionary, Stephen A. King, has been in the area passionately mentoring kids for more than a year.
But as the videos show, Jamaica doesn’t have any concrete that is skateable. Splinter must first construct a concrete slab. They’re looking for a few willing workers to help construct this slab for future ramps.
Through Splinter and Christian Skaters, you can spend seven days coinciding with the Palau festivals in Jamaica. If you feel called to be a part of this team, contact Toni for an application and more information. The goal is to find a team of 20 people who will shine as lights for Christ as they skate, serve, fellowship, and pray for the Jamaican community. Youth groups and skate ministries are welcome.
Please pray for:
• Funds to build and operate the program. If you have a heart to help Splinter and can contribute, please contact Stephen via email. • Youth program educational and operational materials. • Skateboarding safety equipment (helmets and pads).
Praise God for:
• Donated land and a building from which to run the program. • Constructed basketball and netball courts. • Skateboarding equipment donations. • Awareness and support from the local government. • Youth willing to be involved.

Livin It Alliance partner Riders 4 Christ is all over the news since Greg Hartman took home the gold in Moto X Best Trick at the 2007 Dubai X Games. He beat out the competition from South Africa, France, and others from the USA.

How’d It Go Down?
Greg headed out to Dubai for the 2007 Dubai X Games with the sole intention of walking away with a medal. His assault on the Mexican X Games, where he came in fourth place - just a hair out of medal contention, had been a close enough taste to make Greg really hungry for a medal. When the call came from MXi that ESPN wanted to have him in the inaugural Dubai X Games, Greg knew that opportunity was knocking and he was determined to be ready. So he put in the work to get it done, and ready he was!
Greg's Strategy
Greg had a well-developed practice and competition plan. In the midst of the madness that X Games brings, he stayed true to his plan and it paid off big time.
Greg’s first run was a KOD flip that left him in a tie for second place. His plan was to unveil his KOD flip on the first run and then go for his patented Switchblade flip on the second run. For his second run, Greg went second to last and threw the biggest, most extended, smoothest and committed Switchblade flip the world has ever seen, followed by a perfect 10 landing! This set him apart from the competition and the judges responded.
When the scores came in, he was rocketed into first place with a two-point gap. With one rider remaining, Greg was on the verge of pulling winning an X Games gold medal. The time it took for the next rider to go and for his scores to come back must have felt like an eternity to Greg. But in the end, Greg was left on the top of the pile with an X Games gold medal – an accomplishment he has dreamt of his entire life.
Let the Celebration Begin!
Greg and his Dubai X Games accomplishment was profiled on Sports Center that weekend and listed second in the week’s top 10 accomplishments in sports. Greg is beyond excited and appreciates everyone who has stood beside him. He is looking to the future for what is sure to be an exciting FMX career. Greg intends to continue doing as many international X Games as he can, as well as the Dew Action Sports Tour and the LA X Games in ’08.
